HKU-UofT Placement
University of Hong Kong - University of Toronto Joint Educational Placement for PhD
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and The University of Toronto (UofT) has established a joint placement programme for PhD in 2011. It offers a valuable opportunity for students to pursue research in a wide range of disciplines as well as in topics that invite interdisciplinary and cross-cultural approaches at two premier universities in Asia and North America. High calibre PhD students are given the opportunity to spend half of their time at each institution.
Under this scheme, students participate in a Joint PhD Placement at both HKU and UofT. Students will carry out research work at both HKU and UofT. Upon successful completion of the programme, a student will be conferred a single doctoral degree from the lead institution. The transcript will have a note on it stating that “the degree is awarded as a single degree under a Joint Placement arrangement with the [Collaborator Institution]”.
