Objectives

To carry out research at the cutting edge of human genomic medicine related to the formation, growth and degeneration of cartilage and bone with emphasis on the spine and degenerative disc disease.

To discover genes, proteins, molecular networks and mechanisms that underpin development, growth and maintenance of the spine.

To lay firm scientific bases to facilitate the translation of the results of this AoE into therapies for degenerative skeletal disorders.

Mission

Through genetics and functional genomics, we aim to understand the biology of skeletal growth, development and degeneration; to translate this knowledge into strategies and therapies for skeletal tissue reconstitution and repair; to transfer our knowledge to the public; thereby improving the healthcare and quality of life for the millions of people suffering from musculoskeletal problems.
