Dr. Yuen obtained her BTech in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Auckland, New Zealand and completed her PhD in Ecotoxicology at the City University of Hong Kong. She conducted her postdoctoral research fellowship at the Duke University focusing on the etiology of hepatobiliary cancer using zebrafish and Japanese medaka as model organisms. She is currently investigating chronic and multigenerational effects of endocrine disruptors and effective teaching and learning approaches in biological sciences.
A toxicologist by training, Dr. Yuen’s primary interest lies in understanding the mechanisms of toxicity of different pollutants through molecular and histological approaches. As an ecotoxicologist, she is also interested in the use of embryotoxicity tests to assess and monitor water quality. Dr. Yuen is also interested in education research that explores teaching and learning from the perspective of biomedical science.
