Talk Title: How to write a GRF/ECS Grant Proposal

Biography
Professor Fässler has studied Medicine and obtained his MD at University of Innsbruck. He received residency training at various hospitals in Austria and at the Institute for General and Experimental Pathology, University of Innsbruck in 1982-1988. He has built interest in scientific research and decided to become a postdoctoral fellow at Whitehead Institute, Cambridge, USA in 1988-1992. He started his career in academia as Group Leader at Austrian Academy of Sciences, Salzburg, Austria in 1992-1993. After this, he has become a Group Leader of Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in 1993-1998 and the Professor and Chair of the Department of Experimental Pathology, Lund University, Sweden in 1998-2001. Furthermore, he was a Director and Scientific Member at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry since 2001. Professor Fässler has received several accolades for his research, including the Hermann und Lilly Schilling Professorship (1995) and the Göran Gustafsson Prize (2001). He was an elected member of EMBO in 2000 and has become a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in 2008.
