Summary:
Dr. Chen's lab focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying genomic instability and tumorigenesis. The maintenance of genomic integrity following DNA damage depends on the coordination of DNA repair with cell cycle checkpoint control, which is crucial for tumor suppression. Using cell biology, genetics, and advanced proteomics approaches, Dr. Chen's group discovered and studied many new components and protein-protein interactions involved in DNA damage response. Collectively, these studies revealed mechanistically how cells promote cell survival and genome stability in response to exogenous and endogenous DNA lesions.
