Biography
Professor Pengyi Yang

Pengyi Yang, Ph.D, is an Associate Professor and a Robinson Fellow at the School of Mathematics and Statistic of The University of Sydney, Australia. He heads the Laboratory of Computational Systems Biology at the Children's Medical Research Institute. Pengyi conducted his postdoctoral fellowship in Systems Biology Group at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in USA. He subsequently joined the School of Mathematics and Statistics, The University of Sydney, to establish his research program, specialising in developing machine learning and statistical models for characterising molecular networks underlying cell identity for controlling cell-fate decisions.

Abstract

Advances in single-cell omics and spatial transcriptomics are transforming our ability to decode the molecular programs that govern cell identity and cell-fate decisions. In this seminar, Pengyi will share his team's research on developing computational methodologies that leverage these data types to uncover molecular networks that underlie cell identity and predict cell-fate decisions.
