Large-scale Recordings of Neural Activity
The ability to make brain-wide recordings of neural activity at the resolution of single spikes in single neurons is revolutionizing our ability to understand the neural circuit basis of behaviour. This revolution has been spearheaded by the introduction of Neuropixels: next-generation silicon probes which allow thousands of neurons to be recorded simultaneously from dozens of brain areas. Neuropixels probes are being used by over 1000 labs world-wide.
This conference will highlight how Neuropixels probes are being used across different species to understand the function of neural circuits in health and disease.
The conference has two components:
1) Symposium (28 September): open to all, featuring world-leading experts in Neuropixels recordings.
Registration deadline 21 September: https://forms.gle/dXnQjUBQ1k8aHUFA8
2) Practical Workshop (29-30 September): open to a small number of participants, offering detailed training in recording, analysing and interpreting Neuropixels data by the people who developed the tools.
Registration deadline 7 September: https://forms.gle/vNansXjxVktWB7cv8
Host: Prof Michael Häusser
Event Period: 28 – 30 September 2026
Symposium location: 1/F Boardroom, Daniel & Mayce Yu Administration Wing
Workshop location: 4/F Laboratories, Laboratory Block, 21 Sassoon Road, Pokfulam, Hong Kong.
