Analyst, Pebble Accelerator
School of Biomedical Sciences cordially invites you to join the following seminar:
Date: 13 November 2026 (Friday)
Time: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Venue: Mrs Chen Yang Foo Oi Telemedicine Centre, Room A2-06, 2/F, William M.W. Mong Block, 21 Sassoon Road, Pokfulam
Biography
She holds a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from HKU and studied diagnostic radiography at the University of Sydney. She is now an Analyst at Pebble Accelerator, a venture fund providing investment and consulting support to healthcare and life-science startups from seed to Series A. She supports portfolio companies across medical imaging, digital health, and women’s health with commercial strategy, market access, and fundraising. Before joining Pebble, Kelly gained marketing experience at Nutricia Hong Kong, where she developed scientific communications for healthcare professionals on medical nutrition products, and at Johnson & Johnson MedTech, where she worked on market research and sales case support for surgical products.
Abstract
Health products are not ordinary consumer goods. Doctors, patients and caregivers act on marketing claims in ways that affect health outcomes, so every claim carries both regulatory and ethical weight.
This seminar draws on industry experience in medical nutrition and medical technology to look at how companies communicate legitimately with their audiences. Examples include presenting clinical evidence to healthcare professionals and using needs-based, data-driven selling to clinicians. It then examines where the boundaries lie: off-label promotion, inducements to prescribers, unbranded “disease awareness” campaigns, overstated evidence, and marketing to vulnerable groups.
Remarks
- All are welcome.
- Upon completion, 2 points will be counted towards SBMS7000 Innovator Immersion Programme (List A) for students enrolled in the MBioInno Programme.
- MBioInno students should follow the instruction in Moodle for attendance taking.
