My main research focus is to understand the molecular basis of viral-host interaction that determines basic viral life cycle, disease pathogenesis and virus evolution and adaptation to a specific host. Through the techniques of molecular biology, cell biology and virus engineering, our team aims at acquiring basic evidences to the research focus. Not only do we hope to develop new knowledge to the field of molecular virology, in collaboration with scientists in HKU or outside HKU, we also hope to establish prototypes and platforms that can facilitate the development of vaccines, therapeutics, antivirals, novel recombinant virus vectors and engineered viruses in preventing and treating viral and non-viral diseases.
